Riches of His Grace and Glory

Introduction: Grace is a divine attribute that defines God's disposition to man. The very first mention of grace is Genesis 6:8 "But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord" Grace - kindness and favor usually to an inferior. It is God's unmerited favor to man. The first study not only covers this grace - but the riches (fullness, abundance, valuable bestowment) and the exceeding riches of His Grace from the God and Father of our Lord Jesus!

Glory is the distinguishing feature that demonstrates dignity, honor and invokes praise and worship.

  • Eph. 2:7 - The exceeding (surpassing, immeasurable) riches (fullness) of God's grace
    1. What was purposed in God's grace is amplified because it was given to those who:
      1. were dead,
      2. are raised,
      3. seated
    2. Romans 5:20 - Where sin abounded - grace has over abounded

Study 2: The Riches of God's Glory

    1. The sovereign rule of God in history is so that His glory will be displayed, and known by all.
    2. His redemptive plan for Jews and Gentiles is to demonstrate His glory
  • Ephesians 3:14-21 - Paul praying for the Ephesian believers - Asks the Father - that they be:
    1. Strengthened with power (v16)
    2. Christ may dwell in your hearts (v17)
    3. Comprehend what is the breadth and height and depth (v18)
    4. To know the love of Christ (v19)
    5. Be filled with all the fullness of God (v20)
Verse 21 - is the other bookend - the list request would be according to the riches of God's glory and the ultimate outcome is that to Him be glory in the church in Christ Jesus for all generations.
